Hanging out at the mall

Ok, this is not what you might think. No shopping this time. This is about the recent turnouts on the mall for the Progressives and the Watchamacallems. Judging from the respective turnouts, it's difficult to see why the Watchamacallems get so much press. This reminds me of a story told long ago by conservatives that claimed the media was all about Liberals (I hate that moniker btw) and the "party of no" was forever being treated unfairly. I guess I now know how they felt.

I'm not inclined to give out too much sympathy and the respective turnouts at the mall explain why. There is a fair difference between the numbers here if the mall turnout has any kind of statistical validity so it seems to me that the media has been converted. Why else would people like Palin and McConnell get any kind of air time- especially since mostly what they have for intellect is air. The only possible explanation is that, once again, big business and very high paid individuals are controlling what is said and consequently what we all hear and see. You have to be really pay attention these days to weed out myth from reality- if there is such a thing.

The punchline here is that its pretty obvious what has happened in this country relative to the media. The mall turnout should be indicative of what we all should be seeing more of (e.g., positivity, compassion and empathy tempered by fiscal reality) but yet we continue to see excessive coverage of the fascinatingly undereducated like Rove, Beck and Palin while the excessively educated are ignored. Where are all the educated conservatives anyway? They seem to have just handed over the keys to the ninnies. I miss the days of spirited debate and compromise- on both sides. I like it when we try things to make us better as a people, even if it doesn't work out.
