Republicans in Education
I seem to be on a roll so I might as well continue. Jack Klugman writes today that there is an apparent shortage of Republican and/or self proclaimed conservative accidentally in our school system. I think Jack beats around the bush (pardon the pun) some instead of coming out and saying what he really means. And that is that most conservatives are delusional, self serving, money grubbing, greedy and unimpeded personalities that hide behind any doctrine that doesn't directly affect their stature or net worth. Logically, these qualities would not lead one to an academic's life of poverty and altruism. So, for the few conservatives that are in academia, my hat is off to you. Unless, of course, you are a retired corporate officer that lost everything in the process of screwing your constituents or you're a retired military officer who didn't quite make enough to build that true empire.
One last observation. Not having conservative teachers hasn't seemed to affect their populations.

Speaking from experience, it is rather tough to be a conservative here in education-world. However, I enjoy trying to bring a small slice of the real world to my colleagues.
